Jaw Pain / TMJ Dysfunctions

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is one of the most used yet ignored joints in the body. Clinicians should recognize that TMJ can be a primary source of upper cervical pain and/or headaches. The TMJ has been commonly associated with not only headaches but also ear-related symptoms and cervical pain.

Symptoms of this TMJ disorder include pain in the jaw, jaw popping, headaches, sore jaw muscles, locking of the jaw, pain in the temple and earache. Studies have also supported physical therapy intervention and corrective exercises for facilitating recovery from pain and dysfunction associated with TMJ.
